Valentine's Day 2025

Valentine's Day 2025, also known as Saint Valentine's Day, is celebrated on February 14th and is known as the feast of love.

The origin of this holiday dates back to ancient Rome and is associated with the legend of Saint Valentine, a priest who, according to legend, secretly married couples despite the ban by Emperor Claudius II. He was executed on February 14th and became a martyr and a symbol of love.

Valentine's Day today

Today, people exchange gifts on Valentine's Day, such as flowers, cards (often called valentines), chocolate, or other small items to express their love and affection for partners, friends, or family. Typical symbols of Valentine's Day include the heart, roses, and the figure of Cupid – the god of love.

In the Czech Republic, Valentine's Day is increasingly popular, even though many consider it a commercial holiday imported from the West.
