Real chocolate or a sweet?

Real chocolate or a confection? And what should you look out for before buying chocolate?

You can best recognize real chocolate when you taste it, but that is often not possible before purchasing. The following tips will help you.

Ingredients

Look at the ingredients on the back of the chocolate. Generally (and not just with chocolate), the fewer the ingredients, the better.

Míša's chocolate contains cocoa beans, cane sugar, and sometimes cocoa butter for smoothness. Nothing more. Ingredients are listed in order of the amount contained in the chocolate. Milk chocolate also contains milk powder, but even then, it's only 4 ingredients in total. In many supermarket milk chocolates, you will count up to 10 ingredients.

Notice that for many chocolates, sugar is in first place. If sugar is in first place, I say you are buying a confection. Sugar is cheap. Sugar masks the taste of low-quality or over-roasted cocoa beans.

Míša's chocolate produces chocolates with lower cane sugar content. In no chocolate is sugar listed first in the ingredients.
